The Magician
Season 1, Episode 21
Tony Blake is on the set of a movie watching his good magician friend perform the ""Spikes of Death"" escape when his friend is tragically killed. Tony is asked to perform the illusion for the still-unfinished picture since he is the only other magician who can do so. Tony agrees because he wants to help the owner of the movie studio and wishes to find out what went wrong with the escape when his friend was performing it in front of the cameras. Tony finds out the escape equipment had been tampered with by a studio stagehand who is trying to sabotage the making of the movie, so the movie studio will fail and have to sell the studio lot. But who is behind it all?

However, Lang finds himself with strange abilities from the exposure, including the ability to communicate with dolphins, but when his condition deteriorates, Steve must find him and take him to a facility before he harms himself.

They must also deal with two robbers as well as the US Calvary. Caine recalls his own love story, that like Logan's wife, ended tragically.

There's trouble afoot at Grace Brothers! Someone's been lifting Mrs. Slocombe's skirts and putting their hands in Mr. Grainger's drawers. Shoplifting has struck the store and Mr. Rumbold installs a store detective and a video surveillance system. It goes off track for awhile, as Mr. Rumbold turns into a voyeur and the staff act like they're on television. Ultimately, the staff decide to do in the scheme and prey on Mr. Rumbolds hypochondria to accomplish it.

Caine meets Logan McBurney, a Scotsman who has hijacked a gold-transporting stagecoach named Old Ironsides, to haul an enormous box that he claims is his dead Sioux wife's coffin. Along the way to the burial ground, which is on Sioux land, Caine remembers times in the monastery, unaware that several robbers are following closely, hoping to take Old Ironsides for themselves.

But, Dillon is out and about and a new marshal is in town. He meets a young man who is handy with a gun but refuses to shoot any living creature even if it were for his own life. Circumstances prove to both men that sometimes responsibility to duty requires more than just the ability to shoot.
