While his apartment is being fumigated, Johnny accepts Bailey's offer to stay at her place, causing everyone at the station to think that the two are sleeping together. Johnny's also afraid that he's in danger of losing his time slot to Rex, the afternoon DJ, and when Bailey tries to cheer him up, he mistakes her friendliness for a come-on.

While she is in hospital it is discovered she has a severe case of posttraumatic amnesia. A high price assassin is caught in her hospital room not long afterwards and leads to even more interest in who she is and why someone would want her dead.

Thorac is granted a reprieve when Thundarr and the group investigate the crime, eventually learning the town's sheriff Korb is in league with the evil wizard Artemus. Artemus had stolen the fuel to power his Death Ship and gain the approval of the Council of Wizards.

While the Duke boys are trying to report their find to the state police, they are bugged by the original thief (who poses as a reporter to get at the loot) and later, by a phony FBI agent hired by a greedy Boss Hogg who wants the reward money for himself.
