When Amanda slaps him, his breathing apparatus is dislodged. Sydney witnesses the exchange. Richard asks Jo to join Jane and him for a photo shoot in Hawaii, then has Jane called out of town. Jane makes Jake believe that Jo is cheating on him. Jo refuses to go on the trip after learning Richard's intentions, but catches a drunken Jake making out with Shelly at Shooters. Hayley explodes after finding Alison snooping in a locked room that belonged to his late wife. He apologizes and explains that he feels guilty that he married for money. Matt barely fails the medical school boards, but Michael changes his results so that he can gain entry. Kimberly violates her parole to take a job as a radio talk show host. Brooke discovers that she is pregnant.

Hyacinth is completely insulted when she is awarded second prize at the local craft fair, and over Lydia Hawksworth. Scandalized even further when she and Richard are overtaken by Lydia's new car, it isn't long before Richard's worst fears are realized and Hyacinth sets her sights on a newer, more expensive Rolls Royce.

An old girlfriend from high school visits Joe and he invites to spend the night. Matt accidentally sees the girl get out of the shower, causing Claire to tell Joe he is setting a bad example for the younger boys. Andy, meanwhile, can't face telling Claire that he isn't ready to go to a sleepover birthday party at a neighbor's house.

MacLeod's old friend, Kit O'Brady, comes into town in search of a good race horse and a change of luck. MacLeod knew Kit back in Gold Rush San Francisco, when Kit ran the Double Eagle Saloon. Kit lost the Double Eagle to Amanda in a poker game and has blamed her ever since for his string of bad luck -- and he's vowed to kill her. When Amanda chooses to breeze back into MacLeod's life while Kit is there, MacLeod is hard pressed to keep them apart and to keep them from killing each other.

Dr. Mariah Crawford has developed a cure for Spider-Man's disease, but she is reluctant to give an untested serum to him that may result in permanent loss of his powers or worse. After an angry outburst from Spider-Man, however, she hands it over. Peter, at the ESU lab, is secretly observed by Michael Morbius, who then swipes the infected blood sample after Peter leaves for the night. Working alone in the campus bell tower with borrowed equipment, Morbius has an accident which will change him forever.
