After a Xana attack, Jeremie insists on a return trip, regardless of the fact that Xana didn't even cause any damage. When questioned, he gets defensive and angry, insisting that it's necessary. Further questioning on the matter leads to the same result. After the next return trip, Jeremie is found unconscious in his room. Yumi and Ulrich go searching through Jeremie's room to see what they can find about Jeremie's problem. Upon decoding a video diary that is stored on his computer, they learn that he had been using the return trips to increase his own intelligence. When he's about to be taken to the hospital, Xana attacks, possessing the ambulance and driving it towards the river with Yumi with him. Now the others have to save Jeremie and deactivate the tower without Jeremie's help.

With his magical Quantum Keyboard, Ghost Writer creates a series of catastrophes that threaten to ruin Christmas for all of Amity Park and pins the blame on Danny. When Danny goes into the Ghost Zone to confront Ghost Writer, he is surprised to find his old ghostly enemies in a giving mood. Danny enlists them to help him defeat Ghost Writer and restore the spirit of Christmas to Amity Park and, perhaps, to his own heart.

As the holiday season comes under way a few secrets are exposed when Earl attempts to cross number seventy-four off of his list: "always ruined Joy's Christmas." Earl, Randy, and Catalina enter a radio contest to win a brand new car for Joy to make up for all of the thoughtless Christmas presents Earl gave her while they were married. While Randy and Catalina vie over the car, Earl finds out that Joy's parents believe that he's still their son-in-law and that he's just returned from the war in Iraq. Joy is afraid to tell her father, an alleged racist, that she is now married to Darnell, so Earl plays the part, afraid of ruining another one of her Christmases.
