Caine is later accused of the murder of the hanging man and Barrymore's character comes to his defense. This is a really good episode and on the DVD David Carradine has an interesting commentary that accompanies this particular episode.

Their investigations lead them into the backgrounds of all those involved at the recording studios where the three survivors work, but all of the possible suspects appear to be friends with the group, and therefore unlikely candidates.
