Using his high-tech divining rod and his space-pick, he strikes it rich, uncovering a huge deposit of Starstones. But it isn't long before word spans the galaxy and the "gold rush" is on. Beings from all over the universe come to the planet to stake a claim and get rich. Unfortunately, the rush attracts the wrong element as well, like the Black Hole gang, who jump claims and rob the miners of their valuable Starstones. And Capt. Kidd and Squeege, sensing a chance to make a space-buck, naturally show up as well. He's selling blasters and weapons to the bandits who are running roughshod over the planet. This "boomtown", a rapidly grown city which sprang up around the mines is on the verge of being a lawless hell-hole. Which is why they request the Galaxy Rangers to come to town.

The Centurions become involved due to the prospect of war threatening to involve the whole world. Max, Ace and Jake go to Quisto, while John and Rex go to Montenegro, where President Cordano tells them that it was impossible for his country to attack Quisto due to their defenses being run by the Def-3000 computer. John recons a supposedly abandoned Montenegran base, but is attacked and captured, while Rex is also abducted. They find that they are now prisoners of Lady Fang, who is in charge of the Def-3000 and wishes to start a war between the two countries, from which she will make a profit as an arms supplier. John and Rex are left to escape from Lady Fang's clutches, and the other Centurions beam to Montenegro in order to prevent war from breaking out. Science Lesson: Spider wart plants by Jake.

The Junkions fall victim to subliminal messages from the Quintessons, who are trying to get a journal off the Planet of Junk. This also causes the Junkions to attack Sky Lynx and Astrotrain, which brings the Autobots and Decepticons into the situation. Unfortunately, a screw up makes the Junkions send out the subliminal messages on their own, bringing about mass confusion and destruction.
