Avonlea busy-body, Rachel Lynde enters his house looking for his farm boy who has been skipping her Sunday School Class. All are quarantined together. Alexander is a woman hater, Rachel a 'do-gooder', and the house is an unmitigated mess. Rachel nurses Alexander through his illness, Felix too, when he falls ill. Sara helps cleans his house, and learns that there is more to life than just reading books all the time. Through the help of the children and Rachel Lynde, Alexander is no-longer a cranky old man, and somewhat less of a woman-hater. Mrs. Rachel, however, remains a 'do-gooder'.

The banker asks them to investigate the disappearance of a Mr Ling - a highly-valued customer who before he went missing had arranged to sell Lord Pearson a map showing the location of a long-lost silver mine. Ling is found murdered, a young stockbroker is implicated, and Poirot has to untangle a complicated plot.

Season 3, Episode 10
A famous author of real-life biographies of serial killers, famed for his insights, owes his success to an antique pen. He writes out his story of a serial killer's murders, then uses the pen to ""inject"" them with the story. The curse then turns the victim into a serial killer controlled by the story and forced to go out and kill. Eventually they are captured and then the author extracts the evil just as they are executed, leaving them confused and then dead. Micki becomes the author's next victim. Fortunately, Jack and Johnny stop her before she can kill anyone other than the author himself.

After watching detective movies on TV for a week, and hearing that Iola's mother is missing, Mama dreams that she is a film noir-style detective hired to find her client's mother.
