Mulder and Doggett join forces to investigate the arson attack on a genetics lab where one of the doctors suspected of experimenting with alien impregnation is killed. They encounter Billy Miles, who has been changed into an alien replicant after his recent abduction and is attempting to erase evidence of the tests. When a woman helping Scully out at home is found to be a part of the conspiracy, the agents, along with Monica Reyes and Alex Krycek, know they must protect Scully and her baby from Billy Miles and get her out of the city.

Gimpy, with the help of the Click, must retake the leader crown by winning a video game deathmatch against Spud and his crack team of gamers. But Gimpy has no help from Nitz, who has drifted away from the Click.

Helen is enraged by Richard Bay's execution and determined to punish Jackie Cahill and all other responsible parties. She makes a deal with Cahill, offering him immunity on Bay's murder plus the added bonus that she won't announce that he's a snitch and release him into the general prison population if he gives up the shooter. He agrees. After the shooter has been killed by police, Helen reneges on the deal, claiming Jackie hasn't fulfilled the terms of the agreement. Jackie's lawyer protests and drags Helen into court. Meanwhile, Rebecca and Jimmy defend a man on charges that he strangled his wife. Rebecca is adamant about the man's innocence, arguing that the only reason he's being prosecuted is because he was stunned by his wife's death and gave the investigating officer erroneous information. Rebecca and Jimmy are shocked to later learn that their client has a history of strangling both women and chickens.

Milo and his friends crash a party thrown for the Mayor's daughter, Debbie Bledsoe, and they cause the Debbie's new locket to be tossed into the sewer. The zaftig Helga goes after the gift and gets lodged in the pipe, plugging it up like a human cork. The hill people and rescuers work feverishly to rescue... the locket, and leave Helga blocking the main water line -- just one flush away from the great beyond. Helga causes a disruption in the water supply to valley, but the hill people pay no attention -- until their water is cut off too.

While babysitting both Trinity and Mrs. Peterson's dog, Ricky accidentally gets shot and the dog devours a tray of hash brownies. A vet treats both the dog and Ricky. In order to pay the vet, Ricky and Julian must repossess a lawn tractor owned by a former patient who hasn't paid the vet's bill. The Boys successfully recover the tractor -- but not before Ricky gets shot for the second time that day.
